Hariteibo image (Silk on colour)
Kamakura period(¤)

Hariteibo is well known as Kishibojin. It was the female demon who ate children. But she converted to Buddhism by Sakyamuni Buddha and later became the divine protector of children. This deity is also prayed for easy delivery of mothers.
This painting seems to be in a linage of Mitsuidera, just as that of Enma-ten. The Chinese costume in the painting suggests the reproduction of the original which was brought from China.
